Our department of Botany was established in the year 1985 and the major course  was introduced in the year 1997.

The main objective of the department is to impart education for undergraduate (UG) level which includes the syllabus of TDC(Major and general)  .A part from this we provide education to the students of higher secondary level also. We continue our effort to make the students eligible for higher studies and for livelihood  in different fields.

The unique character of the department is making effort to increase popularity among the students and neighboring societies through some social works. In this regard, it can be cited that the department is continuing its efforts to collect ethnic medicinal knowledge which are hidden in Tiwa society of Morigaon District.

Apart from the major course in Botany, a UGC Sponsored B.Voc Course on Food Processing  is introduced  and the classes have been started from 1st October 2018. The course gives full Knowledge regarding  food technology and this course has potentiality to provide self-employability  and recruitment opportunity in Govt. and Private sectors also.

Mission:-  Our college is the only blooming academic institution for higher education of this rural locality And that is why, our college has been considered as an unavoidable part since 1964 so far the development in educational and social field is concerned. Like other departments of the college- our Botany department also counts its responsibility for the society especially in the field of Ethnic Knowledge of Medicinal plants. Along with the social duties- the mission of our department is to attain excellence in the different field of Biological Sciences.
